CELEBRATING 10 YEARS IN COMMUNITY SERVICE

Sailey Williams celebrates 11 years of community service and 10 years of service to the homeless on Thanksgiving.

This year he celebrates his 10th year at the Refuge Church of God as he helped cook, prepare and serve food to all those in the community in need. Sailey has had a strong participation in his community raising money for Tsunami and Katrina relief funds. He's also a contributor to Salvation Army Woman's and Children Shelter donating toys to families with homeless children on Christmas.

His empathy and service for others earned him the Triple "C" Award for COMMITMENT, CHARACTER AND COURAGE given to him by the New York State Attorney General.
Sailey was the recipient of the Dr. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. Award for Brotherhood and for being an outstanding Humanitarian. He was also honored at the HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS 20th anniversary gala in 2006.

When Season 4 of Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew premieres on August 9, the show will feature its first openly gay and transgendered dance crew, Vogue Evolution.

"Assembled in early 2008, Vogue Evolution aims to be in the forefront of bringing vogue and house/ball culture to main stream media. Vogue Evolution comprises of some of New York’s most respected and creative figures in the House/Ballroom scene...Vogue Evolution has since moved beyond just a dance company to become an envoy that stands committed to effectively changing the lives of the LGBT community through the art of dance. Vogue Evolution works to empower Black and Latino youth around self-value, while educating the community on HIV/AIDS awareness, and encouraging the importance of getting tested now."

Nuovo Magazines Viewers first met Vogue Evolution at our recreation of the Vogue video which debuted June 1st, shot by Associate Editor Sailey Williams. V.E is a very dedicated & talented group, and one of the 1st to step up and take ownership of their style and dance techniques. I.e the "5000" vs "Dip" situation. Since the days of Madonna their culture and history have been misused and kept in the dark.

I am sure everyone is looking forward to see Pony, Dashaun, Leyomi, Prince Malechi, and the rest of the crew "turn it out" on the ABDC stage. They have alot to prove, and im sure they will make it fierce!

The "Sailey Sandwich" @ JIMIS

Yes that's right the "Sailey Sandwich". So now all you folks can go eat me lol.

Some of you guys have already had it, being that it debuted Feb 1st -(I'm so behind on these blog posts, SORRY).

The idea for the sandwich sorta happened through means of my photography. Before I started at my studio in East Williamsburg, I used to shoot on the streets of Dumbo, Bk. I would meet my models and team in front of "JIMIS" before every shoot, and we would discuss the concepts and etc, in the front cafe tables.

After a weeks of shooting I kinda got sick of their menu, so I started to mess around with some things on their open deli. After a few months of messing with flavors I came up with the perfect sandwich. Every shoot I would have 1, then introduce them to the models, and style team I would work with. And after awhile it actually became a local favorite, so the owner Simon and I decided it would make sense to make it permanent on the menu, and have a debut night at the Deli for the sandwich.

The Sailey Sandwich has chicken cutlet, or for the light version grilled chicken, swizz cheese, lettuce & tomato, mayo, and a special sauce, on a whole wheat bun. (And your going to want extra sauce!)

We did a publicity ad shoot with models/friends who were fans of the sandwich.

RL Bond @ Fusion Model Management

R.L Bond who is represented by 301 model management in Miami and is currently signed with Fusion Model Management in New York. RL Bond has walked in various runway shows, such as Sean John, Regatta USA-Argyle by Russel Simmons, and Diesel. I was introduced to R.L by Mike Stallings a stylist whom i work with quite often. He said that R.L was up for Fashion Week for the Sean John show and should set something up. We set up the shoot on a tuesday afternoon, we shot in my favorite are Dumbo, Brooklyn.

The shots came out great, we got something fresh that we mutually did not have in our ports. A couple of weeks after the shoot R.L took every image he shot recently including my new images to his agency to pick out photos for his compcard and the website. Turns out that out of all the images he presented to the agency they only chose mine. LOL! I look forward to working with R.L again and I wish him well and his already successful career.

Shane Smith was recruited by Ikon to pursue a career in the fashion and commercial market.The shoot took place in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Shane Smith who has played for the St. Luis Rams and for the New York Jets showed us his A game. The shoot started late but we still pulled trough and the shots came out great.

A Revisit of the Beginning

Well, what better to discuss in my first official post than the very 1st models I began to shoot with. The 1st was Dena Barnes whom I shot my junior year of high school for the early incarnation of my clothing line Salacious. We did the shoot in a dimly lit classroom with my tiny Kodak Easy Share camera. I had no clue what i wanted to do, but as Tim Gunn says, we made it work. As you can very well see this looks a hot mess, but remember it was my 1st time working with graphics and a camera.

Ok, three years later a little bit better, and a little bit more knowledgeable, the now statuesque Dena Barnes and I re shoot. He was interested in starting his book and I obliged ,I was more than happy to start his book, because in essence he started mine.

Dena is 19 years old, 6'1 32inch waist and 185lbs, and statuesque. We did these shots in the chic area of Dumbo, Brooklyn and we got some great shots before a massive down pour of rain. Dena has in my opinion has a look for the Gap and Urban Outfitters for some reason, and I think he can definitely pull of a calender shoot. For booking info contact me.

The second model I reently shot with is Magdalena Lazare, one of my best friends whom I also met in high school in the Drama club. We did our 1st shot while we were out with friends at a McDonald's in Soho. I had my handy Kodak Easy Share camera and decided to do some shots against the mirror. Even to this day i still sort of like this shot.

Once again three years later, Maggie is pursuing modeling, having done shots with "Hype Hair Magazine", David Schinman, and other great photographers, and it was now time for us to try and create something again. We did our shots on the has be hottest day of the year so far. We did hair and makeup with my artist Jeremy downtown and then traveled in the hot sun to Dumbo. The look was high fashion couture meets Jet Magazine 's Beauty of the week lol.

In the end I think the shoot went great, and we were both pleased with our growth in our individual fields. Maggie is 5'9 and 124lbs and a great model. For booking info contact me s.williams@saileywilliams.com
